this outfit was brought to you (or me, rather) by TARGET! t-shirt, maxi and wedges are all from target, though the maxi was a thrifted dress turned skirt. the belt is from j crew, though. i don’t always feel like having a gigantic brass clip in the front, sometimes a simpler black stripe is what i want for an outfit, so i turn it around. plus it adds a little visual interest to the back. bonus!

we were wandering around the gold coast, and found this sweet park, where we decided to grab some outfit pictures. as we wandered forth from there, we realized that the building right behind me (sorry, you can’t see it really in the pics) was the newberry library! it’s one of those spots that even though we live (relatively) nearby, we’ve never really managed to see. in fact, i never even really knew about it until i read the time travellers wife. it was closed, unfortunately. but now that we know where it is, some time we’ll actually get down there while it’s open!

did you guys have a good long weekend? i’ve been having a harder time getting pictures of my outfits during the work week for some reason, so i need to re-don outfit 25 and take some pictures! hopefully for tomorrow!

i’m getting to the point in the remix now where i’m really starting to miss access to the rest of my wardrobe. don’t get me wrong, i still have some outfits up my sleeve. (more than enough, in fact. i’m kinda thinking about doing a mini photoshoot at the end of any outfits i didn’t get around to wearing for this remix, actually.) but there have been a couple of days where i have had to haggle myself into wearing something more interesting than jeans and a comfy shirt. there’ve been several times at work where i’ve thought longingly of all the woolly sweaters i own that aren’t in this remix.

i like colored tights, right? but about half the time, when i try to wear them, i feel like i didn’t get it *quite right*. like here… the coral shirt and the navy tights aren’t quite jiving for me. i can’t tell what should be different, though. or is something else throwing it off? thoughts?

i did actually wear the cardigan backwards for a few hours, but the back of the neck rises up a little bit, and it was touching my throat, and i could only deal with that for a few hours. i really don’t like things touching my throat. we all have things, right? anybody else with me? i think i only own one turtleneck for this reason. i still like the idea of a the backwards cardigan, though, so i might give it another shot with a different cardigan?
i’m surprised it took this long for this skirt to make it into the rotation. i love jersey skirts in the summer. like several other skirts i own, this one used to be a dress. a dress that let a little more of my business out into the world than i am generally comfortable with. but i loved the calico pattern. so i chopped off the very (very very) low cut bodice, which also effectively lowered the hemline, and voila! super comfy jersey skirt!

i can hardly believe that i’m already up to 21! this remix is going so quickly!
quick, before it ends, does anyone have any outfits they’d like to see? go take a peak at my picks and let me know!

whoo! i’m a little scattered right now, so this is a short post. but i made you a gif, so you’ll forgive me, right? i’m trying to get a lot done this weekend; wish me luck!

if i may offer you a piece of advice: on the occasion when you desire to take pictures of an outfit… don’t do it right after a big meal. also, i’m not sure this skirt is around for the long haul. even though i’ve owned it for several years, i can count on one hand the number of times i’ve worn it. i tossed it in the remix as one of my stretch pieces, and i think post-remix it’s time to admit defeat. summery h & m skirt: we gave it a shot, but we just don’t suit.
i went thrifting the other day, and as a matter of course, i checked out the ‘crafts’ section, which usually consists of maybe 2 skeins of primary colored acrylic yarn. but! guess what i found:
a skein of really old school manos del uruguay! i have no idea when it’s from (though the copyright says 1977), but i think it’s pretty cool (as well as being grey, which is pretty much golden in my book).
in other knitting news:
i cast on for the stockholm scarf! i’ve been meaning to make it for.ev.er. i don’t know what’s been holding me back. some of the time it’s because i’ve been working on something else, and some of the time it’s because i couldn’t make yarn decisions. this was one of about 4 options. but this particular yarn (which i overdyed back in the day), i have really never had any other ideas for. i’m not 100% sure how i feel about how it’s knitting up. my problem is that i might love yarn with lots o’ colors in the skein, but i am super-dooper picky about how they knit up. what do you think of it?

i didn’t paint my nails to match this shirt… but i did decide to wear this shirt once i realized it matched my nails.
(tart deco is the color of my nail polish. according to essie. i’d call it borderline neon coral, myself. but that doesn’t have the same ring)
